you need is a Marriage License Issued in New York State at least 24 Hours Before the
Ceremony
Q: How do I get a
Marriage License?
A: 1. Go to any City Clerk or Town
Clerk's
Office in New York State, including the Niagara Falls, NY City Clerk's Office, 745 Main
Street at Cedar Street, which issues Marriage Licenses Monday-Friday (except for legal
holidays) from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
2. The fee to the City or Town Clerk for a Marriage License is $40.00.
3. Both parties to the Marriage License must appear together before the Clerk, with each
presenting at least one form of
official photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport), plus birth
certificates.
4. If you have been divorced, you must show the clerk a certified copy of
your
divorce decree issued by the Court.
5. There is NO blood test or medical exam required.
6. The clerk will hand you the Marriage License, which can be used for up to 60 days after
a 24-hour waiting period.
7. You must give the Marriage License to the minister before the ceremony.
